I eyed the smile and wink shared between John and Daisy and smiled to myself; they didn’t even know they’re into each other. I could practically feel Eric breathing down my neck as I shifted my weight from side to side. “Alright, I’ll just be going. See you later on.”
“Wait!” Eric shouted as I turned away, “Aren’t you hungry? John’s making breakfast.” I looked at John who waved at me with the fork he was using to scramble the eggs. As he waved he got a blob on yolk on his bare chest, why is he shirtless?
“No, I’m fine, bye.” I quickly turned on my heel, as I left the house I heard Daisy and John arguing on whether or not you can lose when you’re playing beer pong.
“If you’re on the side that’s getting all the balls in you’re winning; but if you’re the team drinking, then you get all the booze. It’s a win-win game.” John insisted, and I laughed to myself as I closed the door. I decided to walk, because it was a really pretty morning. I ended up at a local shopping center, where children and parents were rushing in and out of stores looking for Halloween costumes. Halloween was in five days, and if I was back in California my friends and I would be planning the most epic horror movie marathon. My friends haven’t even talked to me since the day I told them I was leaving. I was the awkward one in the group, and they’ve all probably forgotten my face, name, and the times we’ve had together. Although none of us ever remember what we did together because we were always shitfaced. I wasn’t really paying attention to where I was going, and soon enough, I was lost. I looked around frantically, hoping that maybe I recognized something, but who I was I kidding, I was lost.
“Just fucking great, way to go, Alyssa.” I mumbled to myself as I flopped on a bench and pulled my phone out, about to call Daisy when something caught my eye. At first, I thought I was seeing things, so I walked into the small record store across from the bench I was sitting at. I walked inside and was greeted, but I wasn’t paying attention, as I walked towards the large poster on the back wall. And I wasn’t just seeing things. That was fucking John, Kenny, and some other guys I saw at the party last night. My jaw dropped, “Are you shitting me?” I mumbled as I turned and walked out the door. I paced back a forth for a few minutes, trying to calm myself. The Maine, they were fucking in The Maine. I took a deep breath, deciding I was over my small freak out and pulled out my phone. It ran a few times before it was answered.
“Hello?” a deep voice said.
“You’re not Daisy.” I said confused. “Who is this?”
“Er-Eric.” My jaw dropped, that sneaky little bitch.
There was a new girl in town.
She had it all figured out.
